I am thankful for the rough and trying days, like today, for they teach me to appreciate when little things DO work out and go smoothly.  Hopefully, lesson learned.  Tomorrow is a new day!  Make a conscious choice to see things in a more positive light.  Listen.  Stop talking and pay attention.  Take stock.

Show extra love and attention to my husband and children.  Give them the BEST of me...not what is left over after a long day.  They deserve better...and so do I.

As I type this it is 10:10 on 11/11.  I think that is cool.  I know it may seem nerdy, but I've always taken note of silly things like this.

I am so thankful today for the veterans that have served this country throughout time. It is an incredible sacrifice.

I am also thankful for such an unseasonably warm day.  It was such a blessing for our whole family.  We opened the windows and really enjoyed the warm fresh air and nice breeze.  Of course, the nice breeze we enjoyed today is bringing much cooler weather.  I am certain there will be blessing in it too.

I am so thankful for opportunities for our children.  We truly enjoyed a wonderful group of girls competing in a Lego Robotics competition.  They all learned so much and grew, both individually and as a team.  We are so very proud of their accomplishment!  Way to go, Girls!

I am thankful for my husband.  He works so hard for our family and we are so very blessed.  He goes out of his way to make sure things are done and that our children are supported in their endeavors.  He is a very good man!

I am thankful for the AMAZING palette that God used to paint this world.  I took the time today to deliberately notice the colors around me.  From the sky, to the dirt, to the dogs and cats, to the chickens and their eggs, to the color of my children's hair, and the fruit we enjoyed for our meals....aren't they beautiful!

I am thankful for understanding and helpful co-workers.  It is such a blessing to work with good people.  Many people end up working jobs they don't care for with people who can be difficult.  Many don't always have a choice.  I am thankful that that is not a worry in my life at this time.

I am thankful that I am free to VOTE!  It is often taken for granted and so very important to do.  I DO believe that each vote can make a difference, and that it should be taken seriously.  I am thankful that we live where we do and for the freedoms we enjoy!

Today, I am so very thankful for friends who sometimes know exactly what you need...even when you sometimes don't....even if it is sometimes awkward or uncomfortable.  Thankful for the time so very unselfishly given to me when I really needed it the most.  Thankful that it happened...even when I hadn't asked.

I am thankful for our cowgirl and her spunk and for another year as her mommy!  She brings such joy to our life.  She makes me laugh, she makes me smile, she makes me cry, she makes me proud!

So thankful that I have been blessed to be Mommy to such great people!

Thankful, again, for a GREAT coach!  Thankful for a Coach that encouraged our girl to just do her best, and believe in herself!  Thankful that she has so much courage, strength of character, discipline and dedication.  Regionals were wonderful, and I am so thankful that I was able to be there with her!  I am so very proud!  Our princess is becoming an exceptional young lady!

I am also thankful that my wonderful husband was able to travel with our cowgirl for her adventure today with her robotics team!  I am thankful that the other parents of our team were willing and able to help out and make everything go so smoothly.  I only wish I could have been there too.  I am so very proud of our cowgirls persistence and her spunk!

I am thankful for some of the amazing support persons in our lives.  Thank you to a wonderful coach, a wonderful team, a wonderful organization, wonderful opportunities and the challenges, learning, fun, and growth that can come from all of it.

Congratulations to my little girl and the rest of her team for a job well done!  What an honor that you were able to represent our state at the convention.  So Proud!

I have so much to be thankful for and I would like to have more of an attitude of gratitude.  In order to do that, I am trying to take the time and reflect daily.  I am going to post at least one of the items on my "list" daily. 

Today I am thankful for having the flexibility in my schedule to be a mom first.  I am fortunate that I am in a position to do for my children, things that might be much more difficult with a more demanding, full time job.  Many parents don't always have that flexibility and I have much respect for parents who work so hard at trying to keep everything moving in the right direction while keeping up with a demanding work schedule.

Boating

It has been warm around here lately, as it has been in many places.  Our summer is moving along all too quickly, and I am not really ready for school to be approaching so quickly.  I just have so many other things I would still like to do with the kids.  There simply isn't enough time.  Although we won't be able to do it all, we are enjoying the things we DO get to do. 

This is something we have been doing PLENTY of:

The kids enjoy the boat and tubing, and simply being on the water.  Daddy also enjoys it with them...sometimes I think he enjoys it even more than they do!  So, we have been grilling out, packing plenty of picnic meals, gathering up the beach towels and sand toys, and spending our days on the water.  ...a pretty good way to spend a hot day!

God's Handiwork

Driving home from a day on the water and celebrating a birthday and an anniversary with family, this is the sunset we were blessed with!  I realize the photo quality is very poor and it really does no justice to the beauty of the sky.  Regardless, IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!  I think we all need to slow down and take note of things like this more often.

When you feel a bit overheated, just follow the lead of our dog!

This dog feels more comfortable with water than any other we have ever had.  He plays in the sprinkler just as much as the kids, maybe even more!  He can drive you nuts, but he has such an innocent JOY about him!

We were reminded tonight to look at the amazing paint brush God uses.

It was a nice rain, and the colors of the rainbow were so very vibrant!  If you can see through my blurry photo and the rain drops on my camera lens, you can see that we were treated to a double rainbow!  The second wasn't as vibrant, but it was there!  Look toward the upper right corner.

Chickens?

I can't believe it is almost May. The first part of the year has just flown by for us. The kids are all healthy and active and doing well. Work is good. Life is good. Need to find a new church that might be a better fit for our family. Building a chicken coop...the Daddy and the kids are excited about their new venture/adventure. In preparation, they have all been doing research on everything chickens. I am NOT as excited about it as they all are, but their excitement IS contagious.  We will see how it goes!
