Happy New Year!

Well, 2009 is off to a nice start! Being the party animals that we are, we got Chinese take out and movies, and spent the evening with the kids. Actually, B was invited to the home of a friend and she rang in the new year there. The entire day was really quite relaxed and enjoyable. Daddy made a big breakfast (always a favorite at our house), we played with some of the new toys and games that the kids received for Christmas, played with the dog, and made some great snacks! We began 2009 with some of those we love most...I can't imagine a better way to begin!

On the first day of the year, we spent some time with Grandma and Grandpa. They were leaving for a vacation and both the Grandparents and the kids needed some time together before the extended distance from one another. Of course they will probably talk on the phone close to daily, but it just isn't the same. So, we all went out to dinner and enjoyed the company. The vacation plans were discussed as were the ideas for souvenirs. The souvenirs are the "pay" the kids receive for the pet care they provide for Daisy Doodle Dog. She will be living with us for the duration of Grandma's and Grandpa's vacation. She stays with us often enough now that our home is her second home. She fits right in and makes herself very comfortable. In fact, she tries to convince our dog that she is in charge. He, however, is still a puppy and completely ignores her attitude.

On the second, Daddy worked and the rest of us relaxed...not that we hadn't already been doing that! I did get some work done and crossed a few things off my never ending to do list. We slept in, watched cartoons, ran some errands, picked up the Doodle Dog, fit in a lot of play (must do before going back to the regular routine), watched some movies, ate some yummy, fun food, and were together!

On the third, we tried to ease ourselves in to the idea of the regular work/school schedule. We did sleep in though! We wouldn't want to go cold turkey! Daddy ran some errands, Mommy ran some errands (exciting, huh!), played outside, rode the snowmobile, played in the snow and on the ice, played inside, played computer games, played with trains, listened to music, played pirates, read books, played other games, played with animals, played with Cars, played music, and ended the day with a movie! Whew! Did I mention that we PLAYED!!! I loved it! I know many parents can't wait to send the kids back to school...that is not me. I really enjoy having them here and just being with them. Even through the bickering and picking on one another! I think they are pretty GREAT! I am so VERY BLESSED!!

That brings us to today. We had some freezing rain last night so it was a bit of a slippery morning. We ended up not leaving the house all day. It was pretty relaxed once again. Daddy took care of a big breakfast for the kids, and I slept in. That was a great gift since it won't be happening often for a while. Tomorrow it is back to school...back to that routine...not necessarily a bad routine, just a more hectic routine. We played, we played some more, and when that was done we played some more. Big surprise!

All in all, I think the kids all had a wonderful Christmas, a Great vacation, and the start of a terrific New Year!

2008 was great and 2009 has the potential to be even better! The adventure potential with four kids, a dear husband/Daddy, and a lively dog is pretty big!

Let the adventures begin!
